Between 1999 and 2010, 1,751 deaths were attributed to mesothelioma in New York. Nationwide, mesothelioma claimed 29,827 people, making New York rank number 4 out of 51 (all 50 states plus the District of Columbia). Only 3 other states suffered from more mesothelioma deaths than New York.
