Asbestos & Mesothelioma Lawsuit

Looking for a mesothelioma lawyer? Contact an attorney right now to discuss your mesothelioma or asbestos-related legal claim.

Despite decades knowing asbestos exposure dangers, companies withheld, downplayed, and ignored the issue. Not until a series of lawsuits in the early 1970s were companies forced to admit their awareness and responsibility. Those first mesothelioma lawsuits paved the way for modern asbestos litigation. It’s a journey toward compensating those injured by asbestos that the Goldberg, Persky & White law firm has been a part of since the beginning.

Asbestos Dust

Using a strong, angled light, clouds of asbestos dust are revealed around a demonstrator dumping asbestos cement into a container.

On the right, a demonstrator dumps asbestos cement into a bag. In the regular lighting in the scene on the right, only a small amount of airborne dust is shown. However, the same scene illuminated differently reveals the amount of particulate matter in the air surrounding the demonstrator.

Even in conditions that seemed only slightly dusty, the amount of asbestos fibers in the air could be considerable. Lightweight and readily airborne, asbestos exposure was inevitable for many workers.

Tyndall Effect

The scattering of light by dust was discovered by Irish physicist John Tyndall in 1869. The “Tyndall Effect” is described as “the phenomenon in which light is scattered by particles of matter in its path.” It is this effect that enables a beam of light to become visible to the naked eye as a result of the light bouncing off of dust particles.
