Attorney Spotlight: Darren Parr

Darren Parr (headshot).Darren Parr, who was recently named a Shareholder at Goldberg, Persky & White, has worked for GPW since 1995. He was raised in Coatesville, PA where his father worked as a crane operator for Lukens Steel for 30 years. His father was also a grievance man for his local Steelworkers Union. His father was instrumental in helping Darren achieve an educational scholarship from the Steelworkers, which assisted in his becoming the first in his family to attend college.

Darren attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he obtained dual degrees in economics and political science. As an undergraduate at IUP, he was elected President of Student Government Association of this 14,000 student university and subsequently appointed by Governor Ridge to the Council of Trustees for the State System of Higher Education. After undergraduate school, Darren continued his education at IUP, obtaining a Master’s Degree in Industrial and Labor Relations. He studied the labor movement and also interned for six months with the National Labor Relations Board.

After working for two years, he attended the night program at Duquesne University School of Law and also began his career at GPW as a law clerk in the Workers’ Compensation department. Upon graduation, he continued at GPW litigating workers compensation cases on behalf of injured workers. Currently, he litigates asbestos cases in the State of Maine, Michigan and Indiana.

Darren is on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Association for Justice. Additionally, he is the Chair of the Board of Directors for the National Alliance of African American Athletes. A nonprofit organization which, through a network of professional athletes, teaches young African American males the importance of a college education by providing SAT prep programs and mentoring programs. He also serves as a volunteer for Christian Legal Aid, an organization providing free legal advice to low income city residents.
